Arsene Wenger and Tony Pulis have famously not gotten on in recent years, with the pair particularly butting heads while the latter was managing Stoke City. This is what makes it such a huge surprise that Pulis has now backed Arsenal to potentially win the title this season, with the West Bromwich Albion boss speaking ahead of our clash this weekend, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Baggies boss claims we’ve been lacking something over the last couple of years, but insists with a signing or two in January we’d be more than capable of pushing on for the title.
“They have a genuine chance to win the title,” said Pulis.
“Other years I thought they didn’t have the depth or experience, or just what it takes.
“By winning trophies, two FA Cups in a row, it has given that group the smell of winning. You can see they really want to take it on.
“If Arsene adds one or two in the window I think they have a wonderful chance.”
Injuries aside, it’s hard to argue that we look like a team capable of winning the league. Wenger will be hoping we can continue our title push with a win over Pulis’ side this Saturday, keeping the pressure on – or even overtaking – league leaders Manchester City.
When everyone is fit, we may not even need additions in January – although they’d certainly help. Our lack of depth in certain areas could start to tell later on in the season, so hopefully Wenger gets his chequebook out.

But for the moment, let’s focus on our trip to the Hawthorns, and get all three points in the game this weekend.
