We look to have sealed our first deal ahead of the January transfer window, with Brazilian starlet Gabriel Jesus agreeing to the switch from Palmeiras, according to Italian publication Calcio Mercato (via the Metro).
The 18-year-old has broken into the first team this season after impressing hugely at youth level, and has therefore attracted the attention of some top European clubs. It seems as though we’ve beaten everyone to his signature however, with the report claiming he’s agreed terms ahead of a January transfer window – all that’s left is to iron things out with the club.
The teen star has scored five goals in 17 appearances for the senior side this season, which is fairly impressive in itself when you consider his age and the length of time he’s been on the senior scene.
What’s truly astonishing is his record at youth level however, with the forward scoring a phenomenal 37 goals in 22 games for the youth side.
Arsenal officials have apparently been sent to complete the deal ahead of the January transfer window, with the report suggesting the move is all but complete.
We’ve needed a striker for quite some time, and while Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have been doing a fine job we need something more. Gabriel Jesus is unlikely to be the world class striker we want just yet, but could have the potential to become what we need.

There are already a number of young strikers on our books, but it’s unclear whether any of them have what it takes to succeed at Arsenal. Alex Iwobi and Chuba Akpom have shown promise, but they are some way off what we need at the moment; and the less said about Yaya Sanogo the better.
Arsenal transfer news
Arsenal fans will be hopeful that Arsene Wenger remains on the lookout for a top quality striker in the ilk of someone like Karim Benzema or Robert Lewandowski, but for the moment we may have to settle for Gabriel Jesus.
