Mesut Özil and Petr Cech were among a number of Arsenal stars who took to social media following our table topping 2-0 win over Aston Villa this past Sunday afternoon, with the pair sending a message to the fans after the game.
The German playmaker registered yet another assist in the game against the Villains, bringing his Premier League tally for this season to 13. He’s got double the assists of any other player in the English top flight, and it’s hard to find a rival for the title of world’s best No.10 at the moment.
He was clearly ecstatic with the win over Villa, made better by the fact it takes us top of the league. As Özil points out, it may only be for one night if Leicester City can get the win over Chelsea on Monday evening, but the pressure is on them to try and catch us at the summit.

Cech took to Twitter to send a message of his own, with the former Chelsea shot-stopper having another reason to celebrate.
Great win ,clean sheet ,top of the league … Thanks for all the congratulations… It’s an honour for me ! 169 pic.twitter.com/lXLP2RkmZX

The Czech international has equaled David James’ record of 169 clean sheets in the Premier League, and has done so in far, far, far less games to boot. He still has plenty of good years left in him too, so should absolutely smash the record held by the former Liverpool and Portsmouth keeper.
While the whole team deserves massive credit for the way we’re playing at the moment, Cech and Özil are arguably two of the most important players in the team. Cech has added real stability and a sense of security at the back, while Özil’s creativity and the forward impetus he provides makes sure we keep banging them in at the other end.
Arsenal transfer news
Chelsea may be in shocking form at the moment, but it still won’t be an easy game for Leicester. Hopefully the game ends in a stalemate and we are able to hold onto top spot heading into our crunch clash with Manchester City.
