Hector Bellerin has well and truly cemented himself as a fixture in the first team this season, with Mathieu Debuchy struggling for game time. Unless something changes then he should start against Olympiacos this Wednesday, and ahead of the game he’s been speaking about his recent injury problems.
We saw just how much we missed the Spaniard during his time on the sidelines, with Debuchy just not cutting it anymore. He hasn’t looked the same player since his lengthy injury last season, and the effort he’s been putting in suggests he just doesn’t want to be at the club anymore.
Thankfully Bellerin has really stepped up since his emergence last season, and is confident that he’s finding his rhythm again following his enforced break.
“After the injury it’s important to get a good run of games and get the rhythm back again,” Bellerin said (via the Express).
“It’s important to get the three points as well because that helps you a lot. You need to go step by step to get the rhythm that you had before.
“I know there’s more to come and now we are just focused on the game on Wednesday because it’s a really important one for us.”
Our game against Olympiacos this Wednesday is a must win, and anything short of winning by the two goal margin (or with a scoreline of 3-2 or more) would see us dumped into the Europa League.
Arsene Wenger has seen the effect resting your best players for big games can have, and utilising the likes of David Ospina, Mathieu Debuchy, and Calum Chambers against Olympiacos and Dinamo Zagreb gave us a mountain to climb in the following games.
He’s likely to have his hand forced when it comes to selection this time around, but he still needs to make sure he puts his best team out against the Greek side.
Arsenal transfer news
Bellerin hasn’t looked quite as sharp since returning from his injury, but hopefully he’s at his best this Wednesday night.
