We’ve always said that Piers Morgan is without a doubt the worst Arsenal supporter around, but the celebrity fan has gone to a whole new level this time, heaping praise on Jose Mourinho in the wake of his sacking from Chelsea, as reported by the Daily Mail.
He insists that Mourinho is “THE winner of the modern game”, and can’t believe that he’s been sacked. This is despite Chelsea’s woeful form, and the recent behaviour of Mourinho himself.
The detestable Portuguese manager seems to have destroyed his title winning side from last season, guiding them to an oh so impressive 16th place in the Premier League – just one point off relegation. Yet still, Morgan believes it was a mistake to sack the ex-Real Madrid boss, going as far as calling it “the single worst decision in the history of the sport”.
“As an ardent Arsenal fan I should have been thrilled at the failure of a man who dubbed our own manager Arsene Wenger a ‘specialist in failure’. But I wasn’t. Instead, I was flabbergasted,” he wrote in his Daily Mail column.
“This is the single worst decision in the history of the sport. Jose Mourinho isn’t just a winner. He’s THE winner of the modern game.
“I don’t know what’s gone wrong at Chelsea, but I do know this: Jose Mourinho didn’t suddenly go from the best manager in the world to the worst.”

Jose Mourinho may have been an accomplished coach, and there is no arguing that when it comes to tactics, more often than not he gets it right. He was a terrible manager though, and wherever he went he left destruction in his wake. The players rallied behind Mourinho during his first season – or even two – at a new club, but eventually cracks started to show, and this season at Chelsea more than any other saw Mourinho very evidently losing the dressing room.
The players clearly didn’t want to play for Mourinho anymore, and we saw every week with each passing loss that the effort just wasn’t there anymore – despite the Blues boasting players such as Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Willian, Cesc Fabregas, and John Terry.
Mourinho embodied pretty much everything that is wrong with modern football, and was totally unprofessional, insulting, and self centred. He seemed to care more about being the centre of attention than anything else, and his ongoing spats with most managers in the league shows just how detestable he is.
How Morgan can possibly be praising the 52-year-old is a mystery, and his comments suggest he should just accept he’s a Chelsea fan rather than continue making these ridiculous claims that he actually supports Arsenal.
“Shame on you Chelsea for what you’ve done to Jose Mourinho today,” he continued.
“And shame on all football fans who see his demise as something to celebrate.
“He will be a massive loss to our league and we will all, whether we admit or not, miss him enormously as a personality.”
There’s no manager in the world who could justify taking his side from title winners to relegation candidates in the space of six months, and Jose Mourinho certainly isn’t special – regardless of what he thinks. Even Arsene Wenger’s job would be in jeopardy if we were in 16th heading into Christmas, and he deserves the club’s trust more than anyone having loyally stood by Arsenal for two decades.

Piers Morgan just gets more and more ridiculous the more he opens his mouth, and it’s high time he stopped pretending he’s anything other than a fraud.
