We’ve all been wondering whether Alexis Sanchez would make it back in time for our top of the table clash with Manchester City this Monday, as the Chilean has been nursing a hamstring injury ever since Norwich (via Arsenal.com). The good news is that he looks like he may well feature against Manuel Pellegrini’s side, as the former Barcelona star was spotted in training ahead of the game.
Whether he’s fit enough to start is questionable, and we certainly don’t want to rush him back before he’s ready. It would obviously be a huge boost to have him back in the side, but it’s more important that we keep him fit long term rather than getting him back for just one game.
Alexis is likely to prove a massive part of any title push we’re looking to make this season, and we arguably won’t have a better chance at clinching the title than we do this season. Chelsea and Manchester United look totally off the pace, and there doesn’t seem to be a dominant force in the English top flight. Leicester City obviously hold top spot at the moment, but most people will be expecting them to drop off eventually, making it a two horse race between us and Manchester City.
Arsenal transfer news
We’ve got the busy Christmas period coming up now and squad depth could prove key. It seems likely that we’ll see Alexis make an appearance off the bench against City, giving him a few minutes and prepping him for our upcoming fixtures. How we fare in the first half against the Citizens is also likely to dictate how quickly Arsene Wenger introduces the 26-year-old, and it would be excellent if we could be in the lead and in the clear without having to rely on Alexis.
