Mesut Özil is clearly used to the abuse he gets from opposition’s fans, and knows exactly how to deal with the haters. The Arsenal man was taunted by one Aston Villa fan in particular when he was subbed off during our 2-0 win at Villa Park, and reportedly responded in brilliant fashion – by blowing a kiss to the rowdy supporter.
The German international wasn’t quite at his marvelous best, especially when you consider his recent form. He was still playing well enough to have a serious impact on the game though, and provided a superb assist for Aaron Ramsey’s goal in the first half.
Villa fans were clearly frustrated by his brilliance, and when he was subbed off aimed some abuse his way.
Evening Standard correspondent James Olley reported from the touchline though, that the playmaker responded by blowing a cheeky kiss at the fan.
Ozil heads down the tunnel after being substituted. A Villa fan gives him an earful of abuse. Ozil looks at him and blows a kiss.

Özil has been excellent this season, and is far and away one of the best playmakers in football today. He’s leading the continent in assists, and has also created a huge number of chances that haven’t been converted.

If he continues in this vein then he’s sure to smash the league’s assists record, and not by a small margin either.
Arsenal transfer news
The win over Aston Villa puts us top of the table, ahead of Leicester City at least until Monday. They’ve got a match against Chelsea on Monday Night Football, and although the Blues have been shocking this season, it’s still a potentially tricky game.
We don’t want to see a Chelsea recovery, but we obviously want to keep hold of top spot. So a draw seems like the best result, with both teams dropping two points.
