Hull City boss Steve Bruce is desperate to make Arsenal youngster Isaac Hayden’s loan move permanent this January, and wants to get a deal over the line as soon as possible, according to the Hull Daily Mail (via the Daily Star).
The 20-year-old hasn’t been getting the game time he hoped he’d get at the KC Stadium, but Bruce is clearly keen on keeping him at the Championship club.
“I’ve already been on to Arsenal because I’d love to make [the loan] permanent if I could,” Bruce said.
“I’d make it permanent tomorrow if that was possible. I desperately want to hang on to him.
“In an ideal world he’d want to be playing every week but he’s started last weekend and again.
“He’s a very good young player, who’s progressing all the time.”
Hayden has impressed whenever given the chance at Arsenal, but was unlikely to break into the first team anytime soon. It would be a shame to see him leave the club on a permanent basis, but he will need to be patient if he wants to get his chance at the Emirates.
The versatile youngster is comfortable at centre-back or in defensive midfield, both positions that we could use back-up in. Hayden would still have the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Per Mertesacker, Gabriel Paulista, Francis Coquelin, and now Mohamed Elneny to get past though, and he probably wouldn’t be happy with a place on the bench.
Arsenal transfer news
As the report suggests, there have been rumours of his season long loan deal being terminated due to a lack of game time, but it seems Bruce is keen to avoid that. Arsenal fans are obviously hoping to see arrivals rather than departures though, even if the departure is a youth player.
