Mohamed Elneny’s January transfer to Arsenal has been all but announced from a number of sources, with the Egyptians transfer seemingly only a matter of time. And now, in one of the clearest signs yet that he’s on his way to north London, Elneny’s FC Basel teammate Albian Ajeti has confirmed the news on Facebook.
You can often get clues about an imminent transfer on social media, with Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook the best sources. Players regularly let slip information that they probably shouldn’t, as Ajeti has done ahead of Elneny’s seemingly done deal with Arsenal.

Elneny is being brought in as a backup to Francis Coquelin, who is currently arguably our only real option in the defensive midfield role. The 23-year-old boasts a number of talents his soon to be French teammate doesn’t have however, and looks set to be an excellent acquisition.
Recent reports suggest the anchorman has missed training with Basel ahead of his £5m move to Arsenal (via the Daily Mail), and has potentially flown into London to finalise the deal. He’s not the only signing that Arsenal fans are expecting this January, but he certainly seems likely to be the first.

Arsenal transfer news
We’re in arguably our best position in years with regards to winning the Premier League, as our squad is in confident mood and we’re currently atop the table. A number of the usual suspects are seriously struggling for form this season (*cough* Chelsea *cough* Manchester United *cough*) and we’re only really competing with Manchester City – and perhaps Leicester City – for the title. A couple of signings could really gives us a boost in the hunt for our first Premier League title in over a decade, but when will we see our first arrival?
