Grzegorz Krychowiak has been linked with a move away from Sevilla practically since he arrived, with the Emirates touted as a potential destination. He’s once again being tipped to make a switch to north London this January, with the Polish international claiming his agent is dealing with the interest from Arsenal, as reported by FouFourTwo (via The Independent).
A defensive midfielder has been high on our list of priorities in recent seasons, and we’re still lacking in that area despite the emergence of Francis Coquelin. Every Arsenal fan’s worst nightmare became reality when the Frenchman suffered a serious injury late in 2015, and it’s clear we need more depth in that position.
The former Reims star has acknowledged the interest shown in him by Arsenal, but insists he is 100% focused on his football and leaves all things transfer related to his agent.
“I’ve heard about Arsenal, but I leave it to my agent,” he said. “I trust him and he’s the one who deals with that kind of the stuff.
“I can’t think about things like that. I have to keep my mind free of any distraction and just focus on doing my job for Sevilla.”
This obviously gives us no hints as to whether a move is even a possibility, but at least shows that the interest is there and that he’s aware of it.

Krychowiak is unquestionably a quality player, and he’d add some real grit and steel to our midfield. With reports suggesting that Mohamed Elneny is set to be announced as an Arsenal player soon however (via the Metro), it’s hard to see the 25-year-old La Liga star arriving too.
We are looking for a player to play back-up to (or perhaps rotate with) Coquelin, certainly not to replace him. Having three top quality defensive midfielders at the club would arguably be overkill, especially when you consider that at the moment we have the likes of Mathieu Flamini, Mikel Arteta, and Calum Chambers fighting for a place.
Arsenal transfer news
There would certainly be no complaints if Krychowiak were to sign this January – or next summer – but it’s not a deal we can see happening once Elneny arrives.
