Nacho Monreal has reportedly signed a new three year deal at Arsenal, keeping him at the club until at least 2019, according to Sky Sports.
The Spaniard has improved infinitely since his Arsenal arrival, and is now arguably one of the best left-backs in the Premier League. He more than deserves his new deal, having displaced Kieran Gibbs and made the first team spot his own.
Monreal is clearly happy in England and with Arsenal, and talks of a return to Spain have been quashed at every turn (via the Metro). He doesn’t appear to have any desire to leave, and now sees London as his home.
“Everything feels right here,” he told Arsenal.com back in December (via Sky Sports).
“I can say that I feel at home on and off the pitch. If you don’t feel good off the pitch and in life in general, obviously you can’t give 100 per cent.
“However, at the moment, I love England, I love London and I love my team-mates so everything is positive.”

The deal is yet to be confirmed on Arsenal’s official website, nor have his wages been announced anywhere. His previous contract was rumoured to have been around the £50,000 per week mark (via the Metro), and if true then he’s certainly due a rise.
Monreal has arguably been one of the most improved players in the Arsenal squad, and has gone from strength to strength since his arrival. When he first made the switch from Malaga in 2013 there were question marks over his suitability for Arsenal, and many (including some at All Arsenal) were less than convinced of his quality. He’s proved all his doubters wrong though, and has been one of our more reliable performers over the last 12 months or more.
Arsenal transfer news
As we’ve said, there is nothing official from Arsenal.com, but hopefully the news of a new contract proves true and the 29-year-old remains at the club for at least another few years.
