Mesut Özil was left out of the match day squad for our trip to the Britannia Stadium, with the German international suffering from a slight foot injury (via the Daily Star). He’s told Arsenal fans he hopes to be back in time for our next game however, and is cheering on his teammates from home.
The playmaker took to Twitter to deliver his message, posting an image of himself relaxing and watching the Stoke v Arsenal game on TV. Check out the tweet below:
Watching the match vs. Stoke! Hopefully I’ll be back well for the next match. But for now: COME ON YOU GUNNERS pic.twitter.com/vrS8ncBieJ

Özil has been a massive part of everything we’ve achieved so far this season, and it’s disappointing that he’s suffered an injury at a key point in the campaign. Hopefully he’s right and will indeed return for our next game – especially as our next game is a tricky fixture against Chelsea.
Either way, it’s great to see the former Real Madrid star cheering on his team when injured, and goes along way towards showing he’s a real Gooner.

He’s been subject to a huge amount of criticism since his arrival at the Emirates way back in 2013, but it’s impossible to say anything negative about the World Cup winner this season. He’s been in absolutely inspired form, and is arguably playing the best football of his career – long may it continue.
