We’ve got a massive game against Chelsea this weekend, and despite their fall from grace we still can’t take them for granted. We lost to them once this season – under somewhat controversial circumstances – and given the poor season they’re having it would be rather embarrassing for them to do the double over us.
For the first time in a while Arsene Wenger actually has some decisions to make, as we’re starting to get a few players back from injury. Thea team no longer picks itself, so it’s not as easy to predict the lineup.
This is how we think Arsenal will line up against Chelsea this Sunday:
GK) Petr Cech
Once again there’s really no question about this one, Petr Cech must start ahead of David Ospina against his old side.
RB) Hector Bellerin
Mathieu Debuchy is totally out of the equation at the moment, and has barely even made the bench in recent weeks. Bellerin has well and truly made the starting spot his own, and doesn’t look like loosening his grip on it.
LB) Nacho Monreal
The left-back spot isn’t quite as one sided as the opposite flank, but Monreal is still unquestionably miles ahead of Kieran Gibbs.
CB) Laurent Koscielny
Gabriel Paulista is arguably a little unlucky not to see more game time, but a starting spot is unlikely to come at the expense off Koscielny.
CB) Per Mertesacker
The giant German would be the fans’ choice to miss out in favour of the Brazilian, although Arsene Wenger seems to be keeping the faith with vice-captain.
