We’ve recently been linked with a rather questionable move for Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, and we’re apparently plotting a £15m low-ball bid for him this summer, according to The Sun.
Sturridge has struggled with injuries throughout his career, even more so in recent seasons. He’s come in for some criticism regarding his mentality and the seriousness of his injuries since Jurgen Klopp took over at Liverpool, and the report suggests he’s therefore looking for an Anfield exit this summer.
While it’s hard to imagine us making a move for the England international, a number of outlets have tipped us to make a bid come the end of the season. Arsene Wenger is apparently plotting a £15m bid for the former Chelsea man, hoping that his situation at Liverpool will have become untenable by the time the transfer window opens once again.
Not only is it difficult to see us making the bid, it’s also damn near impossible to see Liverpool accepting. Sturridge may be an injury prone prima donna, but he still has an excellent goalscoring record, and they won’t want to lose him on the cheap.
Add to that the fact that The Sun claims Manchester United are also looking to make a move for the frustrated forward, and this move edges further and further outside the realms of possibility.
Despite Sturridge’s unquestionable talent, Arsenal fans would no doubt be furious if Wenger made the 26-year-old his top target. Another unreliable, injury prone player is the last thing we need, and he’d simply be filling up another squad place that we really can’t afford to waste.

We do need a signing or two this summer, but our acquisitions need to be capable of improving the squad – not just adding to the atmosphere in the doctor’s office.
Arsenal transfer news
Manchester United can have Sturridge for all we care, we need to be looking elsewhere for a striker this summer, even if Wenger has to spend a smidge more than the £15m being touted.
