Joel Campbell has been talking up his Arsenal teammate Hector Bellerin, and claims the Spaniard has the potential to be one of the world’s best players.
Bellerin has shown over the last 18 months that he’s already one of the best right-backs in the Premier League, and that’s despite being just 20-years-old. The Spaniard has taken the English top flight by storm since his emergence last season, and is widely considered to be one of the most promising youngsters around.
Talking to Arsenal Player, Campbell revealed just what he thought of Bellerin’s progress, and also spoke highly of the bond between the two – both on and off the pitch.
“We speak the same language, so it is much easier to communicate with each other,” he told Arsenal Player.
“We enjoy a very good relationship on and off the pitch. That helps us a lot when we are playing, by speaking with each other, helping each other and giving indications to give our best to the team.
“He is enjoying a very high level, but I think he can give even more. He has the potential to be one of the best in the world.

“He is showing that now, but he is still very young and he has a long way ahead. So I think the best of Hector is yet to come, we haven’t seen it yet.”
Campbell has seen his role in the first team vastly increase recently, although the return of Alexis Sanchez will obviously push him back to the periphery somewhat. We’ve seen mixed displays from the Costa Rican, but he clearly has a solid understanding with Bellerin.
More often than not we see our right-flank vacated by our forwards, with Arsene Wenger looking to create all our width through the young full-back. Joel Campbell has proved pretty effective down the right though, and Bellerin’s overlapping runs allow the winger to cut inside and find space.
He’s certainly not wrong about Bellerin either, as he’s more than capable of becoming the world’s best right-back. His pace obviously sets him apart from a huge number of players, but he’s also a fantastic defender too, not to mention the attacking threat he poses.
Arsenal transfer news
It’s unclear whether Joel Campbell has a long-term future at the club, but Bellerin’s future is certainly a bright one.
