Arsene Wenger doesn’t think much of our chances in this year’s Champions League after our 2-0 loss against Barcelona, and gives us just a 5% chance of progressing after Tuesday night’s loss.
Tactically, we set ourselves up perfectly against the La Liga giants and it looked like we were in with a real chance. We started off well, and we were arguably the better side for the first hour. Things went to pot in the second half though, and a few shocking mistakes – arguably due to our over-zealousness and desire to get a goal – led to us conceding sloppily.
Per Mertesacker pushed way to high up the field, yet failed to apply any pressure. He was easily bypassed, and as soon as that happened we were left painfully open. Neymar was eventually able to square it to Lionel Messi for practically a tap in, with Nacho Monreal making a bit of an error and leaving the Argentine free.

We’ve got an extremely tough task ahead of us if we want to progress, and in all honesty we should really forget about the Champions League for this season. That may actually be for the best in the long-run, as now we can really focus on the Premier League and the FA Cup.
