Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has sent a warning to new Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, telling him just how difficult adaption to the Premier League can be, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Bayern Munich boss is set to take over from Manuel Pellegrini this summer, and Ferguson believes he may struggle to make the flying start many believe he is going to.
“Man City have made a real coup in getting him but Pep won’t find it easy, English football is not easy,” he said.
“Every foreign coach that has come to England will tell you that. Arsene Wenger was talking about that a few months after coming and even Jose Mourinho was.
“Pep will be a success but I don’t think he’ll ever replicate what he did at Barcelona because that was a high standard – they were the best.”
Guardiola is unquestionably one of the best managers in the world, although many like to criticise him due to the fact that he’s always been gifted world class squads with the teams he’s managed. This is obviously true, but he’s still gotten the best out of them and arguably made them even better.

He could still find it difficult to adapt to the English top flight though, as so many managers have done before him. Manchester City have an incredibly talented but disjointed squad, and Guardiola may have to remodel them a little.
He should certainly take heed of Ferguson’s words too, as he knows exactly what it takes to succeed in the Premier League, having won the league with teams he had no right to do it with.

It would be bad for us if the Spaniard were to hit the ground running, as we really need to take advantage of the situation in the league next year. We missed the chance to capitalise this year, and you have to expect things to get more difficult from here on out.
