Arsenal fans have long been complaining about the price of tickets, but in an incredible twist we’ll now be paying less than every other Premier League club for away tickets, with a cap of £26 put on tickets for travelling fans, as reported by Arsenal.com.
It was totally understandable that supporters were furious at the price of tickets, as we were consistently among the highest in world football. Fans from other countries would balk at the fees demanded of them to travel to the Emirates, and local fans would rant over the prices we were paying compared to the level of investment the club was showing.
Home tickets are unfortunately still going to cost us an arm and a leg, but we’ll now be paying the lowest rates of any away fans in the country, with the club adding to a recent £30 cap introduced in the Premier League.
Ivan Gazidis recently spoke about the additional £4 saving Arsenal fans would be getting above and beyond the rest of the Premier League, and while it won’t make up for years of high prices, it’s a fantastic start.
“We have fantastic support home and away. We know that following the club is a commitment and are always seeking to strike the right balance in our pricing,” Gazidis said.
“These steps mean that we will have held general admission season ticket prices flat for nine of the 12 years since our move to Emirates Stadium by 2018, and are also designed to make things a little easier for our travelling fans who often face the highest prices when watching Arsenal play away.

“In terms of the financial support for away fans, we have consistently been strongly in favour of doing more to help and were originally in favour of a Premier League proposal around travel initiatives which would have been even more generous to travelling fans than the £30 cap.
“Once it became clear this would not receive enough support across the Premier League clubs, we supported and directed the funds to the £30 cap plus an additional £4 ticket discount for Arsenal’s away fans.”
Not only will this news please Arsenal fans immensely, it should also go a long way towards boosting the support the team will get at away games. No longer will we see empty seats, and no longer will the seats be restricted to only the very rich. Loyal Arsenal fans who are willing to travel but were never able to afford the price of admission will now be able to attend more games, and we’re sure to hear their support.

We’ll certainly be attending a few more away games, and can’t wait to see the impact these changes have on the game.
