Danny Welbeck is apparently a doubt for our Premier League clash with Watford, with the striker forced to undergo a separate training regimen with England this past Monday (via the Mirror).
The former Manchester United man has only recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines, and may not have fully recovered.
Roy Hodgson split the team into two different training groups ahead of England’s game against the Netherlands, but Welbeck looks unlikely to feature in that game at all. There’s no news on an actual injury, but if he’s training alone there must be some reason.
He’s been a key player for us recently, with our other options up front extremely limited. Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have proved totally ineffective recently, and we’ve been vastly improved with him leading the line. Welbeck’s combination of pace and power has been key, and we can’t afford to lose that.
The 25-year-old certainly has his weaknesses and far too often we’ve seen him take a shocking first touch, fluff his lines at the worst possible moment, and make some truly shocking decisions. He gets into a number of great positions though, and if he takes even a fraction of the chances he gets then we’re among the goals.

An injury to Welbeck at this point in the season would be a massive blow, so hopefully it’s just a precaution that he’s training away from the rest of the England squad.
