Patrick Vieira and Dennis Bergkamp have popped up as favourites to replace Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager, with the 66-year-old tipped to move on at the end of the season, as reported by the Express and Sky Bet (via the Metro).
Wenger is coming in for some real criticism at the moment, with fans feeling we should be far more competitive during a season that has seen Tottenham and Leicester as our main competition for top spot in the league. The manager will apparently face the sack if we fail to beat Hull in our FA Cup replay this week, and two Arsenal legends are being tipped to replace him.
Patrick Vieira doesn’t have a huge amount of experience in management, but has recently been handed a starring role at New York City FC. It remains to be seen whether the retired French midfielder will succeed as a manager, but he certainly seems to have the faith of Manchester City and NYC FC.
Bergkamp on the other hand, has plenty of experience as the assistant manager at Ajax, and seems to have plenty of potential. The only thing holding him back is his fear of flying, which would definitely hold him back with a club the size of Arsenal.

Other candidates include Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone and Southampton’s Ronaldo Koeman, but both are currently behind the ex-Arsenal duo in the running.

Wenger has served Arsenal for decades, but it may be time for him to move on. We have to pick his replacement carefully though, as we’ve seen with the likes of Manchester United how much a new manager can unsettle things.
