Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Riola has dropped a few hints that Arsenal are leading the race for his client’s signature, with the latest one being his desire for Champions League football, as reported by Goal.
The Swedish international has won titles in every league he’s played in, but despite playing for some huge teams, he is yet to win a single Champions League trophy.
Riola claims that is still a massive priority for the 34-year-old, suggesting he’ll only want to move to a club that’s in the Champions League.
“Zlatan knows what he wants to do,” he told RMC (via Goal).
“He wants to play in the final of the Champions League, and if possible to win it.
“We’re not going to be pressed and we’ll take the right decision. Zlatan has desire and he is motivated. He has no need for a financial motivation to continue; he wants to prove that he can still play at the highest level.
“Zlatan has priorities, such as finishing the season well and playing a good European Championship. The rest is up to me.”
With Ibrahimovic most heavily linked with a Premier League switch, we are likely to be his only option. Chelsea and Manchester United – two of the other clubs he’s being linked with – are unlikely to be in the Champions League next season, which is a huge boost for us. Manchester City will probably be able to offer him big money and big wages, but with Pep Guardiola set to take over at the Etihad and the bad blood known to be between them (via The Telegraph), they seem out of the question too.
The PSG star’s agent also suggests that money is no longer a motivating factor for the former Barcelona star, and while we find that hard to believe given his recently touted £600,000 per week wage demands (via the Daily Mail), if true that’s another huge plus in our favour.
Arsenal transfer news
All that combined with the fact that he’d prefer a move to London (via Sky Sports), and it’s starting to look like there is nowhere other than Arsenal that Ibrahimovic is going to end up.
