Ronald Koeman has done fantastic things at Southampton, and the Dutchman has now been tipped to be a potential successor for Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, as reported by talkSPORT.
Fan unrest has been growing at Arsenal, with more and more demanding Wenger’s head. Premier League coach Ray Wilkins believes Koeman would be an excellent fit at Arsenal, and claims he’d be more than capable of walking into the job tomorrow if he wished.
“Ronald Koeman could go into Arsenal tomorrow,” he said.
“I’ve been so impressed with him. He’s built two teams at Southampton, and he’s been mentioned for the Manchester United job in the past.
“He’s done a wonderful job there.
“He loves to play the younger guys as well, he gives them an opportunity to play regular first-team football

“And of course he has the experience of being with some massive clubs as a player.”
Obviously bringing youth through the ranks would appeal to the Arsenal philosophy, and Koeman has done an excellent job at Southampton with very little money. This is another reason the Arsenal board may be looking at him, and with very few top managers available, Koeman could be a good option once Wenger steps down.
It seems unlikely that Wenger will step down at the end of the season, and unless something drastic happens between now and the end of the campaign he’s expected to see out his contract. We need to plan for the future though, and Koeman may well be part of those plans.
Arsenal transfer news
Koeman may not be the number one choice as Wenger’s replacement, with many wans wanting to see the likes of Pep Guardiola or Diego Simeone coming to the club. Neither are likely to be available though, and if we can’t get someone like Guardiola then Koeman could prove a superb option.
