Arsene Wenger is apparently keen on Dutch wonderkid Myron Boadu, and is hoping to beat Ajax to his signature this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
Currently plying his trade with AZ Alkmaar, the 15-year-old has been attracting a lot of attention. He’s considered one of the brightest young stars in the Netherlands, and Wenger wants to make him part of the Arsenal academy.
We’ve apparently been watching him for years, but only now has Wenger decided to make a move. The teenager will be eligible to make an Arsenal transfer when he turns 16, and the French manager is determined to bring him to the Emirates.
We’re known for our commitment to youth at Arsenal, even if we’ve struggled more than usual recently. Our U21s and U18s haven’t been faring as well as they used to, and Wenger is no longer giving youth as much of a chance in the cup competitions either.
He is still clearly looking to put some major focus on youth though, continuing in his attempts to bring youngsters up through the ranks. We’ve seen success recently with Alex Iwobi battling through into the first team, deservedly keeping out the likes of Theo Walcott.

There’s obviously no telling whether Boadu would follow the same path, but the more we fill our academy with top talent, the more chance there is that one or two will become truly world class.
