John Terry has revealed his PFA Team of the Year, and has unsurprisingly left Arsenal out of the team completely.
The Chelsea captain has named seven Leicester players in his team, and has opted for Riyad Mahrez as the Player of the Year. Despite the heroics of Mesut Özil though, he doesn’t even feature in the team.
There are some truly questionable choices made by the disgraced England international, with the omission of any Arsenal players just the tip of the iceberg.
While you can’t really argue with putting a huge number of Leicester players i the team, there are arguably a few better choices than the likes of Kasper Schmeichel, Robert Huth, and Danny Drinkwater. Even if you accept that he made the right call when it came to the Leicester inclusions though, there are some really bizarre choices elsewhere.
Firstly, Manchester United’s Chris Smalling at right-back? The England international hasn’t played at right-back once this season, so why on earth does Terry think he deserves to be in the Team of the Year at full-back?

On the opposite flank we’ve got Ryan Bertrand, who has not only been injured for a large part the campaign, but has also been bang average at left-back for Southampton. He hasn’t been nearly as solid or reliable as Nacho Monreal, and bias aside, the Spaniard really has been among the best left-backs in the league this season.
You really can’t argue with his choices up front, as Harry Kane and Jamie Vardy have unquestionably been the best strikers in the Premier League this season. There are huge questions over the defence and midfield though, and how anyone can leave the likes of Mesut Özil out of the side is a real mystery.
Arsenal transfer news
That said, John Terry has always been a clueless scumbag, and if he were permitted he’d probably just put the entire Chelsea team in there, despite the shocking performances they put in during the first half of the season.
