Pep Guardiola is apparently looking to bring Mikel Arteta to Manchester City this summer, with the former Barcelona boss looking to add the Gunner to his coaching staff, as reported by the Mirror.
Arteta has barely featured at all for Arsenal recently, with perpetual calf injuries keeping him sidelined. Perennial injuries at this stage of his career are pretty terminal, and his age has really been catching up with him.
His playing days are all but behind him, and he’s therefore expected to retire at the end of the season. The 34-year-old is currently doing his coaching badges at Arsenal, but the report suggests he could put them to use elsewhere.
As we’re the ones training him and building him up as a coach, it would be nice if he were to put his skills to use at the Arsenal academy. We don’t know what the options are though, so it’s possible he could end up at City next season.
The Mirror’s report suggests Mauricio Pochettino could also offer Arteta a job, and a move across London would be even more frustrating.

The report claims it’s “unlikely” Arteta will remain at Arsenal in a coaching capacity, but doesn’t expand on why. It would be a shame to see him leave, but it may not be in our control.
