Arsene Wenger believes Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez are both happy at Arsenal, and believes the pair will sign new contracts this summer, as per talkSPORT.
The acquisitions of Özil and Alexis have been absolutely massive for the club going forward, so losing them would be an unbelievable blow. Our failure to capitalise on excellent positions this season may well have got them considering their futures, but Wenger seems confident that both players will put pen to paper at the end of the season.
“That will be done in the break, in the summer. Nothing [at the moment],” he said.
“They have a two-year contracts.
“They look [happy], when I talk to them they are happy and they want to extend their contracts so I don’t think it is a problem.”
Although we can’t know for sure whether Wenger is right or not, this is certainly good news. We really can’t afford to let players of their quality get into the last year or so of their contracts, as they are unlikely to have any shortage of suitors.

Özil’s performances this season have been absolutely breathtaking, and the World Cup winner has without a doubt been our best player. Alexis Sanchez definitely hasn’t been at his best – looking a different player to the one we signed last season – but we all know the quality he possesses.
Arsenal transfer news
We need to show ambition in the transfer market if we’re to keep hold of them, so hopefully Wenger has big plans for this summer.
