Danny Welbeck is bizarrely being linked with a move back to Manchester United this summer, with new Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho apparently keen to bring the hard working forward back to Old Trafford, as reported by the Express.

This is unquestionably one of the more ridiculous rumours we’ve heard in a while, and there are a huge number of reasons why this one almost certainly won’t happen.
Firstly, Welbeck has only recently suffered a massive injury, which is set to keep him sidelined for at least nine months (via The Evening Standard). It seems massively unlikely that Mourinho would sign a player this summer who won’t be fit until more than half way into the season, no matter how much he wanted him.
Secondly, Welbeck only made a £16m deadline day switch to Arsenal from Man United in 2014 (via the Express), and Arsene Wenger is unlikely to want to sell him. When he hasn’t been sidelined with injury Welbeck has been a starter more often than not, either playing up front or out on the wing. He offers something nobody else in the squad really does, with his pace, power, and direct style of play really proving an asset.
Welbeck may not be the best around, but he’s a quality squad player who we shouldn’t let leave. While it seems incredibly unlikely that the 25-year-old will be allowed to go, the bookies are still tipping him for an exit. They have slashed odds on his departure (via the Express), and the bookmakers often know things we don’t.
Arsenal transfer news
Unless Arsene Wenger has his eye on a replacement for the England international this summer then it’s hard to see this one happening, although having come through their youth system a return to Old Trafford may appeal to him.
