Arsene Wenger has apparently contacted Leicester City boss Cluadio Ranieri personally to discuss the availability of Riyad Mahrez, with the Frenchman determined to lure the Algerian international to the Emirates this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The report is based off tweets from Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, who claims talks are “ongoing” between Arsenal and Leicester; with Wenger already contacting the Foxes boss.
Arsenal-Leicester: ongoing contacts for Mahrez.

Mahrez had an absolutely outstanding season with Leicester City, and his form was a large part of the reason they so successfully challenged for the title. If he can replicate that form next season then he’d be a fantastic signing no matter the cost, but after his performances during the 2015/16 campaign his value is sure to have skyrocketed.
Leicester signed the talented winger for a mere £400,000 back in 2014, but his value has now apparently shot up to around the £30m mark (via the Daily Star). This figure may well have Wenger considering his options and looking elsewhere, but if he really is serious about signing the 25-year-old then he may have to bite the bullet and fork over the cash.

Signing Mahrez would unquestionably be a real statement of intent too, signing the PFA Player of the Year ahead of all our rivals. We’ve fallen short of the Premier League title every season for quite some time now, and that needs to change. We need an injection of confidence as well as quality, and Mahrez would offer us both.
Coming off the back of a phenomenal title winning season with Leicester he’ll be on cloud nine, and with Alexis Sanchez and Riyad Mahrez flanking Mesut Özil – as well as hopefully a new top class striker – we’d have a front line that would scare any team in the game.
