Granit Xhaka’s potential move to Arsenal is yet to be confirmed, but the Swiss international’s comments have once again poured fuel on the fire, as reported by German publication SRF.
The 23-year-old has long been linked with a move to north London, and in all honesty it’s turned into a bit of a saga. With all the noise surrounding the transfer it seems highly unlikely that it won’t happen now, although the Borussia Monchengladbach star is still keeping fairly tight lipped.
When asked about the transfer he insisted that he was “the wrong person to ask”, suggesting that any contact between the clubs was nothing to do with him.
He did reveal that he could “absolutely” see himself playing for Arsenal, praising the club and dropping a massive hint.
“Whether there are talks or not, the clubs Gladbach and Arsenal know that, but as of now I am still a Gladbach player,” Xhaka continued.
“It might change in the next weeks or it might not change.”
Xhaka appeared to say an emotional goodbye to both the fans and his teammates following his side’s 2-0 win over Darmstadt the other day, which only further strengthened the rumours of a summer exit. It’s looking more and more likely that a deal will be announced incredibly soon, with Arsene Wenger potentially getting his first signing over the line before the Euro 2016 Championships get underway.
Arsenal transfer news
It would be fantastic to see a player of Xhaka’s quality arrive at the club, and hopefully he’ll be joined by a few more players of a similar calibre.
