Arsene Wenger has delivered an update on the team ahead of our final day clash with Aston Villa, and thankfully it’s largely good news.
Mesut Özil is back in contention for a start after missing the last game through injury, with the Germany playmaker left out of the squad that faced Manchester City due to a hip problem (via the Express).
Jack Wilshere is also a possible starter, with the England international potentially making his first senior start all season after recovering from injury.
Unfortunately Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain won’t be available, but we already knew he was likely to miss the remainder of the campaign.

Wilshere didn’t look to be quite at his sharpest when he came on against City, which is hardly surprising considering how long he spent on the sidelines. He still put in a decent performance though, and up against an absolutely shocking Aston Villa side who have already been relegated could be the perfect time to give him his start.
As it’s the last game of the season, we may see a couple of players handed starts who might not normally get one. We still want to make sure we get the win though, as second spot is still potentially up for grabs, and third place isn’t necessarily confirmed.
This could potentially be the last game for a couple of our more senior players, so Arsene Wenger may want to give them at least a few minutes on the pitch. It would also be nice for the likes of Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere to get a healthy run out, as they need to show their respective international coaches that they are fit and ready to take part in the Euros this summer.
Arsenal transfer news
Regardless of the team we put out we should have more than enough about us to get the better of a shocking Aston Villa side, but what team we actually see is still most definitely unclear.
