Olivier Giroud has apparently demanded talks with Arsene Wenger ahead of next season, wanting clarification on his future at the club, according to the Metro.
The much maligned Frenchman has come in for more criticism than usual this season, despite statistically having his best season in an Arsenal shirt. The 29-year-old is taking the brunt of the frustration from the fans, with Wenger’s inactivity in the transfer market resulting in fury directed at Giroud.
The fans are desperate to see a new forward through the door, but season after season have had to watch Wenger fail to address our issues and leave us with only Giroud up front. It’s not Giroud’s fault that he’s really been our only option for so long, and in all honesty he hasn’t done the worst job. We need not only someone better, but also someone who just offers something a little different.
With all the talk of a new striker arriving this summer it’s only natural that Giroud would want to know where he will fit in at the club next season. That said though, regardless of who arrives this summer Giroud should be happy with his situation. He’s been the first choice forward for a number of seasons when it arguably wasn’t always deserved, and if he has some real competition for the first time at Arsenal then he should use it to motivate himself and improve rather than considering his position at the club.

If Giroud were to look towards the exit this summer then it would seem incredibly ungrateful, and hopefully he is willing to remain at the club even if he isn’t automatically first choice.
