Ricardo Rodriguez recently suggested that he’d love to join his international teammate Granit Xhaka at Arsenal (via the Metro), and VfL Wolfsburg have essentially admitted that following his admission the left-back will be allowed to leave this summer, as reported by the Metro.

While a left-back isn’t necessarily a top priority – with Nacho Monreal still in fine form and Kieran Gibbs at least providing adequate back-up – Arsene Wenger may feel that the opportunity to sign Rodriguez is too good to pass up.
Not only would the £19m rated star (via the Metro) be a fantastic signing, he’d also help Xhaka settle in and potentially provide a superb partnership. Many fans would love to see the switch; a switch the player himself is clearly keen to make. While he didn’t rule out staying at Wolfsburg next season, he did suggest it was “unrealistic” (via the Metro).
After this admission, Wolfsburg’s Sporting Director Klaus Allofs admitted that talks were underway regarding Rodriguez’s potential exit.
“The agreement was indeed made with Ricardo. As we have recently entertained, was clear: His idea is to leave us,” he said (via Metro).

Obviously Arsenal haven’t been mentioned so even if he does leave there’s no telling whether it’s us he’d join, but with such strong links and the Xhaka connection it certainly seems like a possibility.
Arsenal transfer news
Rodriguez is unquestionably one of the best full-backs around at the moment, and is understandably looking for a big move away from Wolfsburg. We could provide an escape route, but with Wenger generally unwilling to bring too many players to the club in one go, should we be focusing elsewhere?
There are plenty of other areas – both in attack and defence – which arguably need strengthening ahead of left-back, but we don’t often get a chance to sign a player of Rodriguez’s quality.
