Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski has long been a reported target of ours (via the Metro), and his recent comments about Thierry Henry will no doubt please many Arsenal fans.

The Polish international is one of the best strikers in the world right now, but suggests that Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was a massive inspiration for him. He watched the Champions League as a child, and clearly loved watching Henry do his thing.
“I watched the national team and I also remember the Champions League. I used to fall asleep a bit in the second half of those matches as it was quite late, but I always wanted to watch until the end,” he said (via UEFA).
“Thierry Henry was a player I liked to watch and take inspiration from.”
He went on to discuss how honoured he was that Henry was now a fan of his, with the French forward asking for his shirt last time they met.

“It was a real honour more recently when he asked if he could have my shirt after a game. I asked if it was for someone else and he said: ‘No, it’s for me.’ That was really cool,” he continued.
“I was watching him on TV a few years ago, now he is asking for my shirt.”

Unfortunately, as much as we’d love a move to happen, it seems highly unlikely that Lewandowski would make the switch to Arsenal any time soon. He’s currently at one of the biggest clubs in the world challenging for the biggest trophies, and if he were to leave Bayern Munich he’d have no shortage of suitors. The likes of Real Madrid would presumably come knocking, and even the most loyal Arsenal fan has to admit that we’d struggle to compete.
Arsenal transfer news
The fact that he’s such a huge fan of arguably Arsenal’s biggest ever legend says a lot though, and maybe by the time he’s ready to move we’ll be ready to accommodate him.
