After failing to secure services of Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette, Arsenal have now set their eyes on Deportivo La Coruna striker Lucas Perez.
According to El Confidencial in Spain, Arsenal have made a late bid for the striker and are ready to meet his release clause of £17 million. Perez has been targeted by Everton this summer who wanted to bring the striker to Goodison Park but it seems Gunners are set to highjack the move.
The unimpressive start to the season and failure to secure a win has led to questions about Arsenal’s capability to challenge for the title this season, a new exciting striker is a key component they are badly missing.
After an unsuccessful attempt to sign Antoine Griezmann, Arsene Wenger is now planning to go for a more realistic choice and the Gunners can hope to see deal for Perez follow through.
The 27-year-old is yet to represent his national side in international tournaments, but the Spanish striker’s performance has been monitored by Leicester City scout Steve Walsh who recommended the striker to Ronald Koeman.
Perez made 36 appearances in La Liga last season and scored 17 goals with 8 assists. The striker is quick on his feet and provides the versatility to play as a centre-forward or on the wing.

The Spain international had been approached by Everton but the opportunity to play in the Champions League with Arsenal is sure to lure the decision Arsene’s way. Spanish club Valencia also made a move for him in the hopes of replacing Barcelona target Paco Alcacer but were told by Deportivo that the club is about to sell him to Arsenal.
The arrival of Perez will ease the pressure on Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez, giving Wenger flexibility upfront. The transfer window closes on Wednesday next week and the opportunity to sign Perez seems like their best bet to end their striker woes.
