Arsenal are considering a move for Yacine Brahimi, who was left out of Porto’s Champions League qualifier in midweek.
The Algeria international has made a total of 85 appearances for Porto ever since joining the club in 2014. He has scored a total of 21 goals, and has been a long-term Chelsea target.
The 26-year-old has expressed his desire to leave Porto and according to Mirror, has attracted interest from Liverpool. Now Arsenal have also entered the picture after losing out on midfielder Riyad Mahrez.
Arsene Wenger was keen to bring Mahrez to the Emirates Stadium, but the 25-year-old ended all possibilities by penning a new deal with the Foxes.
Gunners are now reportedly chasing his fellow Algerian teammate, Brahimi, whom Porto are willing to sell for £40 million. Apart from his impressive dribbling skills, the winger’s intelligent play allows him to sneak past defenders into a more central role.
Wenger has also received another set-back as his chase for Atletico Madrid’s defender Jose Gimenez has come to an end after the club refused to sell him below his £56 million buyout clause.

Following his recent struggles in the transfer market, the Frenchman could decide to battle it out with Chelsea to avoid another dead end and bring the winger to the Premier League.
