Shkodran Mustafi has been officially announced by Arsenal, and the German is ecstatic to be joining international teammate Mesut Ozil who is equally excited to have his compatriot joining the club.
The defender had remained Arsene Wenger’s top priority over the entire course of summer and the manager has finally secured Mustafi to ease their defensive problems.
The defender has reportedly signed for a fee of £35 million and is expected to join the squad after returning from international duty against Finland and Norway.
At his official unveiling, Mustafi gave his first official interview at the club. The centre-back expressed joy upon joining the Gunners and is hopeful about this step forward in his career.
“I’m happy”, he said. “It took some time but finally I’m here and I’m happy to have made a step forward in my career again, because I think it is a step forward to have joined this club. I hope I’m going to have a great time here.
“When you change team, obviously you try to always make a step forward. I think coming here I’ve made a step forward, because Arsenal is a big club with big players and a great manager. For me I think the most important thing was if I made a change, could I learn something? Was it going to be good for my development? I think that being here now is going to help me grow as a player.”
