Arsenal travelled to Norway today ahead of two pre-season matches without Jack Wilshere who failed to prove his fitness since sustaining a knee injury last week, however Gabriel is passed fit after overcoming tonsillitis (via Arsenal.com).
Wilshere faced a race against the clock to be fit for the upcoming friendlies after a patella injury made him a major doubt for the upcoming trip ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
It is thought the injury is not a serious case and is left behind as a precaution, Arsene Wenger will no doubt be quizzed on the fitness of the star midfielder at his upcoming press conference.
Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez join the squad after their recent returns to pre-season preparations, while Gabriel’s return is a major boost considering the lack of experienced available options at centre back.
A selection of youngsters make the cut once again as Wenger looks to test some of his up and comers. Gedion Zelalem, Krystian Bielik, new-boy Rob Holding, Chris Willock and Jeff Reine-Adelaide all join in on the action.
