Kick Off (GMT): Sat 17 Sep 15:00
Arsene Wenger’s pre-match press conference was delayed twice and when it eventually got underway, The Boss gave the lowdown on all the team news for the weekend’s match against Hull City.
The biggest news story is that Aaron Ramsey is still not ready for first team action. The Welsh midfielder injured his hamstring during the opening day defeat to Liverpool but was expected to be back in action by now. However Wenger has ruled the 25-year-old out of contention until next week at least.
When asked if he hoped Ramsey would return for the weekend’s match, Wenger replied “Yeah I hoped but he is not ready.”

The boss was then asked if the midfield star will be back for the EFL Cup game against Nottingham Forest next week or even next Saturday’s Premier League clash against Chelsea. “They come too early I think.” Wenger said before confirming that there is no added problem to the injury. “We are cautious with him, we do not want any set back with his hamstring and at the moment I think Tuesday is really too early for him.”
Wenger also said that defender Gabriel has returned to training. The Brazilian has been out of action since pre-season and could play against Nottingham Forest next week. The Boss went on to say that Theo Walcott could return to the squad for the Hull match but that Olivier Giroud might miss out after picking up a knock against PSG.
