Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alex Iwobi is back in training but that Aaron Ramsey is not quite ready for the weekend. Arsenal play Southampton this Saturday and new signings Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez could make their debuts (via Arsenal.com).
Match: Arsenal v Southampton
Stadium: Emirates Stadium
Kick Off (GMT): Sat 10 Sep 15:00
Arsene Wenger was in a good mood as he went about his pre-match press conference on Friday morning. It’s hard to blame the boss for his optimism. The Gunners go into the game with a near-full strength squad, two new signings, and a belief that this is a turning point in the career of Jack Wilshere.
Wenger spoke to the press about the strength of his squad and the experience he has at his disposal. He praised the impact of the new signings and claimed that they are settling into the club very well.
“Apart from Sanchez who I’ll be meeting later – everyone is alright.” Wenger confirmed to Arsenal.com. “Alex Iwobi is back in the squad but Aaron Ramsey is not ready for tomorrow or Tuesday.
“[the new signings] have adapted very quickly and very well but the real test is the games. They have the focus and the quality in training.”

Wenger was also asked if he expected them to feature this weekend but seemed unsure. “I haven’t decided yet. That’s a decision I have to make, I’ll see how everyone gets back.”
So it’s mostly good news for Arsenal fans ahead of the match against Southampton. Aaron Ramsey may be ruled out and the only other problem is the question marks over Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean played for his country on Tuesday and has obviously had to do a lot of travelling.
