Arsenal have confirmed their squad list for the 2016-17 season and there are a couple of surprising inclusions. Mathieu Debuchy and Yaya Sanogo have both been given places in the 25-man squad list (via The Premier League).
The day after the close of the transfer window is the time for every Premier League club to submit their squads for the rest of the season. 25 players are included, eight of which have to be home-grown.
Arsenal have included a couple of players who haven’t exactly been first team regulars in recent years. Right back Mathieu Debuchy is in, as is forgotten man Yaya Sanogo.
The French striker hasn’t exactly set the Premier League alight during his three years with Arsenal, scoring zero goals in his 21 top flight appearances for The Gunners and Crystal Palace. Sanogo did however break his scoring duck in England last season during a loan spell with Championship side Charlton Athletic.
As well as Mathieu Debuchy, another right back has been given a place to try and rival Hector Bellerin. Carl Jenkinson is still out with an injury but has been included in the Arsenal squad after returning from his loan spell with West Ham United.
As strange as it is to not see Jack Wilshere’s name in an Arsenal squad, let’s hope there’s enough strength in there to finally take the Premier League title to the Emirates.
