Arsenal new boy Lucas Perez’s shirt number has been revealed, and with little surprise the Spaniard will wear the No.9.
Previously worn by Lukas Podolski and left vacant last season, Arsenal fans will be hoping the new centre forward will have a bit more Nicolas Anelka about him then Park Chu-Young.
Perez is likely to be involved in the Gunners first match after the international break against Southampton wearing his brand new No.9 shirt.
The number nine has been a bit of a curse for the Gunners over the years. While high-profile names are often associated with one of the most attractive numbers in the game, a series of flops have donned the strikers shirt and players whose promising careers took a horrible turn.
Francis Jeffers, Jose Antonio Reyes (albeit an arguable flop given his importance for the Invincibles), Park Chu-Young and most recently Lukas Podolski have worn the No.9 however all have failed to live up to expectations along with Eduardo who suffered that horrific leg break.
