Arsenal centre-back Shkodran Mustafi has hailed fellow new signing Lucas Perez as a complete striker, claiming the Spaniard is ‘uncomfortable’ to face after some tough battles in La Liga last season.
Perez got the better of Mustafi’s Valencia by scoring twice for Deportivo la Coruna, however now the former La Liga duo find themselves on the same side of the pitch after securing late moves in the summer transfer window.
The two new signings were in training together for the first time this week after their recent transfers, and the Germany international is looking forward to lining up alongside Perez, issuing a sharp warning toward Arsenal’s upcoming opponents.
“He is uncomfortable to play against,” Mustafi told Arsenal Player. “He’s a good striker – he has everything a striker needs.
“He’s someone you can play well with. He doesn’t just run around and wait for someone to give him a pass to score a goal. He works a lot for the team as well and he creates chances.

“He’s in the right place at the right time, as he showed last year in La Liga. I played there for two years and I know it’s not that easy to score many goals in La Liga, because you have great defenders there as well.
“I think he’s going to help the team a lot.”
Both Perez and Mustafi look likely to make their debuts this weekend against Southampton, while the latter is already held in a high pedigree due to his experience at international level and is more of a house hold name, Arsenal fans are curious to see what Perez can bring to the table.
The striker appears to be in a similar mould to Arsene Wenger’s primary striking target over the summer – Jamie Vardy. Perez possesses pace, power and directness – something Arsenal’s frontline has missed especially with Danny Welbeck becoming a true Gunner since his arrival from Manchester United and spending as much time as possible on the sidelines.
Olivier Giroud is likely to lead the frontline from the off, but hopefully we will see a glimpse of Arsenal’s new No.9 at some stage this Saturday.
