Arsenal have been drawn against Southampton in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup with the tie set to take place at the Emirates.
The Gunners will take on Claude Puel’s side after seeing off Reading in the fourth round on Tuesday with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain the hero scoring both goals in a comfortable win.
The Saints, meanwhile, booked their place in the last eight after beating Sunderland 1-0 at St Mary’s Stadium thanks to a single goal from Sofiane Boufal.
Elsewhere in the competition Manchester United will face West Ham, Liverpool will take on Leeds United and Hull City have been drawn against Newcastle United.
Having been drawn at home Arsenal will be hopeful of making it into the last four and have already beaten the Saints this season, running out 2-1 winners at the Emirates back in September.
A stoppage time penalty from Santi Cazorla was enough to give the Gunners all three points at the Emirates after Laurent Koscielny had equalised a Petr Cech own goal, given after Dusan Tadic’s free kick hit the bar and went in off the goalkeeper.
Ties are scheduled to take place in the week beginning November 28 which will come in between Premier League games against Bournemouth and West Ham.
Southampton have already seen off Premier League opposition in the competition having knocked out Crystal Palace and Sunderland and are on a strong run of form, having lost just one of their last 10 games in all competitions.
However, Arsenal will go into the game as favourites to progress and hoping to win the League Cup for the first time since 1993 when they beat Sheffield Wednesday in the final at Wembley.
