Mesut Özil has said there is nothing to worry about after being substituted at half-time in a match for Germany last night. The playmaker was brought off during the break but has taken to Twitter to calm some worried Arsenal fans.
Arsenal and injuries go hand-in-hand so it’s always a worry when a player is brought off suddenly in an international match. Of all the Gunners squad, Mesut Özil is probably the last player the fans want to see hobbling off so there was panic when the former Madrid man failed to come back out onto the pitch for the second half last night.
Germany took on Northern Ireland in Hannover and goals from Sami Khedira and Julian Draxler were enough for a 2-0 victory. Özil is a key player for his country so it was a surprise when he didn’t return to the pitch for the second 45 minutes. The midfielder took to Twitter after the match to confirm that there is nothing to worry about regarding his injury
“Thanks for taking care because of my substitute but everything is all right guys,” he told his 13 million followers.
An injury to Mesut Özil is absolutely unthinkable so it’s a relief that he came out of the match okay. It seems that no Gunners player picked up a knock during the international break and with Lucas Perez, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin set to return in the coming weeks, it’s good news on the injury front.
