Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Olympiakos defender Panagiotis Retsos who is currently on international duty with Greece.
According to Goal, the Gunners sent a scout to monitor the performance of the 18-year-old during Greece U19’s 2-0 victory against Wales on Thursday.
With nine appearances in all competitions so far this season for the Greek outfit, Retsos is fast becoming one to watch. According to the reports, an Arsenal representative was present at the U19’s match against the Welsh to observe the young defender who was captaining his side.
Retsos mostly plays as a left-back but is versatile enough to play in any position at the back. He is currently filling in for Alberto de la Bella who is out injured for Olmypiakos.
The teenager could be an interesting acquisition as a future star for Arsenal who is currently tied to the Greek club until June 2021. Arsene Wenger needs to bolster the left-back position with Nacho Monreal not getting any younger and Kieran Gibbs’ future far from sorted, perhaps Retsos could replicate Bellerin’s meteoric rise with Arsenal always opening the door to youth to stake their claim.
