Hector Bellerin’s agent has confirmed that the full-back is close to signing a new deal at Arsenal and that he is “very happy” at Arsene Wenger’s side.
The Spaniard has emerged as a key figure for the Gunners, since joining from Barcelona in 2011, despite only turning 21 in March.
His impressive performances have brought speculation that Manchester City and Barcelona are keen to sign him, however Bellerin now looks set to commit his future to Arsenal with his agent confident of a deal.
“We are speaking and are now a lot closer than we were two weeks ago. In a normal situation he will sign,” Albert Botines told The Guardian.
“Héctor is very happy at Arsenal. This would be the fourth time he has signed a new contract at the club and it is clear he has made good progress.”
Wenger has previously admitted he is keen to keep hold of Bellerin, who has almost three years remaining on his current deal at the club.
Manchester City, meanwhile, had been linked with a move with Pep Guardiola believed to be a big fan of the 21-year-old.
Former club Barcelona have also been heavily rumoured to be interested in Bellerin with Luis Enrique’s side still struggling to find an adequate replacement for Dani Alves who left in the the summer for Juventus.
Bellerin is currently away on international duty with the Spain Under-21 side who will take on Austria in an European Championship play-off on Friday.
His agent’s words will delight Arsenal fans with Bellerin a key figure and set to commit his peak years to the club. Gooners will also be hoping that Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez follow his lead and also opt to extend their current stays in north London.
