Ray Parlour feels that Arsenal must beat Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday if they are to claim the Premier League title this season.
The Gunners have struggled at Old Trafford in the Premier League in recent years and were beaten 3-2 by an injury-hit Red Devils side back in February.
Arsene Wenger’s side have not beaten Manchester United on their own turf in the league since September 2006 when Emmanuel Adebayor scored the only goal of the game.
However, the Gunners go into the game six points ahead of Jose Mourinho’s side and able to top the table, albeit temporarily, with a victory.
Parlour feels Arsenal look an improved team this season but says they must win if they are to go on and be crowned champions this season.
“I look at Arsenal now and think they’re a lot stronger,” he told Sky Sports News HQ.
“People were always waiting for that big centre forward, but the key signings for me were Mustafi and Xhaka. Those two down the spine have been very strong, especially Mustafi who’s come in next to Koscielny at the back.
“No disrespect to Per Mertesacker, who’s getting that little bit older, but sometimes Arsenal have to sit off with him in the team. With Mustafi, you can push up that little bit higher and condense the space in midfield.
“It’s worked so far, but it’s such a competitive league and this will be a big test. If they’re going to win the title, they have to go to places like Old Trafford and try to get a result.”
A Premier League win at Old Trafford for Arsenal is certainly well overdue and the Gunners will be boosted by the fact the hosts look set to be without several key players including Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Wayne Rooney, Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling.
