Arsene Wenger has denied Oliver Giroud is his ‘Plan B’ option with Alexis Sanchez currently leading the line up front in place of the France international.
Sanchez has starred in a forward role this season and is the club’s joint top scorer, alongside Theo Walcott, with eight goals already.
However, Giroud has returned from injury with a bang scoring three goals in his last two games for the Gunners as he bids to win his place back in the starting XI.
Giroud’s form has seen him recalled to the France squad, for their upcoming games against Sweden and Ivory Coast, and Wenger has given the striker his backing.
“There is no Plan B in any squad, I never think about my players like that,” he told the official Arsenal website.
“There is the team that is more effective for the next game and that is the team you pick and I consider everybody a regular player.
“The way a manager thinks is just the next game. If he plays in the next game he is in your mind he plays, if not then he doesn’t start but he has shown he can be a huge asset for the club and I have always supported him.
“I believe we have an advantage if we are all at our best. I have a squad of 25 players who are all top class. A game of this stature is not about 11 players, it is about 25. Giroud came on against Sunderland and made the difference. Everyone’s contribution will be vital.”
Wenger started with Sanchez and Giroud against Ludogorets in midweek and the Frenchman’s recent goals suggest he will retain his place against Tottenham.
