Arsene Wenger has revealed why his Arsenal team have scored so many goals recently, praising the movement of his attacking line. The three at the weekend made it 12 goals in three matches for the Gunners.
Arsenal have had very little problem scoring goals this season. The Gunners are the second highest goalscorers in the Premier League and the third highest in the Champions League behind Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. It was a problem area for the Gunners last season and Arsene Wenger has revealed why he thinks his team has had so much success in attack this term.
“At the moment our goalscoring record depends on the quality of our movement and the quality of our passing,” he told Arsenal.com. “We have a guy up front who doesn’t stay up there, he likes to come deep to make passes for the runners.
“That’s as well why I play with runners like Walcott, who can come and fill in in these positions. We can come a little bit from everywhere and with the quality of the passing behind, that explains certainly why we can score goals.”
The goals from midfield have certainly been a boost this season. Mesut Özil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are already having their most prolific seasons for the Gunners while Theo Walcott has surpassed ten goals for just the second time in his career and Wenger is aware of the importance of this.
“Real competition is competition with yourself,” the boss went on. “That means us together, going as far as we can. After that, I have enough experience to know no matter what you do, we have always people who question what you do – that’s normal.

“We know we are not perfect and I tell you even more, we have a lot of room for improvement. But what we need is everybody putting his quality at the service of the team and having the individual desire to progress.
“I think Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott, they have made strides up… Xhaka, in every game that you see he is on the way up. As well, Lucas came in and scored three goals so we need the help of everybody to achieve what we want to achieve but you have as well to be conscious.”
Wenger is absolutely right. Alexis Sanchez has been prolific and Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott and Özil are all chipping in too. Aside from the starting players, Wenger can utilise Olivier Giroud or Lucas Perez from the bench as well as Alex Iwobi who has two in his last two. Arsenal are an exciting and effective team to watch going forward which is something that Gunners fans haven’t been able to say for some time.
