Chuba Akpom is set to leave Arsenal in the January transfer window and will join Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion, according to the Mirror.
The 21-year-old has made just one appearance for the Gunners this season, in the EFL Cup win over Nottingham Forest, but will be allowed to spend the rest of the season with Chris Hughton’s side.
Brighton are currently top of the table in the Championship, two points ahead of Rafael Benitez’s Newcastle and hoping to secure promotion to the Premier League.
Akpom had reportedly attracted interest from a number of other Championship side, including Aston Villa, but is expected to join the Seagulls today.
The youngster has struggled to make an impression on the first team this season and has seen his progress further hindered by a back injury that kept him out of action for longer than originally expected.
However, Akpom is now fit again and will hope to play a play in Brighton’s push for promotion and gain some regular football in a bid to impress Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal are currently well-stocked attacking-wise with Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud both in excellent form while the return from injury of Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck has further increased Wenger’s options.
The Gunners also have summer signing Lucas Perez to consider, leaving Akpom with little chance of first-team football this season at the Emirates.
A move to a side flying high in the Championship and scoring plenty of goals looks a good opportunity for Akpom as he bids to get back on track.
